This page once held a rant describing how bad it was that the Dutch electronic tax forms were provided as a Windows-only binary.

Today, the Dutch tax forms are available a closed-source application based on wxWidgets on Windows, Linux and MacOS. I hear a web-based solution is in the works. Good to see progress in a sensible direction!

For now we can only dream of an even more open approach, were filled-out tax forms can be exported in some Open Standard (e.g. some XML-based format) by your favourite accounting application, reviewed and sent right off.
